In Milan, a tribute to the pioneers of women’s rights with the monumental mural “8 Extraordinary Women” and the book “Ersilia e le altre” by Lucia Tancredi

On Friday, September 26, 2025, at 5:30 PM, at via Tranquillo Cremona 27 in Milan (MM Buonarroti), the monumental mural “8 Extraordinary Women” will be inaugurated, created by artist Pablo Pinxit on the facade of the boundary wall of Casa Majno.
These are Alessandrina Ravizza, Laura Solera Mantegazza, Ersilia Bronzini Majno, Ada Negri, Anna Kuliscioff, Maria Montessori, Rosa Genoni, and Sibilla Aleramo: pioneers who were ahead of their time, fighting for civil rights, women’s emancipation, and the construction of a more just and equitable society.
The work, curated by Christian Gancitano with the supervision of Margherita Majno, represents an important public art intervention for Milan.
Below the faces of the protagonists, a QR code will be present, allowing visitors to listen to the biographies of the women depicted, drawn from original documentation. The historical and visual analysis is curated by Clara De Andreis and Greta Rovere.
The choice of location is particularly significant: Casa Majno was designed in 1928 by architect Pier Giulio Magistretti for Edoardo Majno, son of Ersilia, and in her final years housed Bronzini Majno herself.
The presentation of the work will be attended by the promoters and the artist, as well as Milan City Council Assessors Gaia Romani and Elena Grandi, and city councilor Diana De Marchi.
The project was realized with the collaboration and patronage of historic institutions that carry forward the legacy of these protagonists: Unione Femminile, Fondazione Asilo Mariuccia, Fondazione Kuliscioff, and Fondazione Elvira Badaracco.

Following this, the presentation of the book “Ersilia e le altre” (published by Ponte alle Grazie) will take place, with author Lucia Tancredi in conversation with Gherardo Colombo, and with readings by Greta Rovere, which will explore the story of Ersilia Bronzini Majno.
