Subject: Numerous studies and conferences denounce a distorted, fragmented, one-dimensional, stereotyped representation of women on television. But has it always been this way? Has television ever produced programs in which the female figure was represented in a composite and complex manner, reflecting the vast and varied presence of women in the society we live in? From 1977 to 1981, a program titled “Si dice donna” (They Say Woman) aired on Rai’s Channel 2. Director Massimo Fichera, head of structure Marina Tartara, author Tilde Capomazza. It was an entirely original cultural and political venture of great resonance whose impact reached millions of viewers. A television program that proposed an articulated female image, rich in testimonies and different reference models. The women’s movement has been called the most important revolution of the twentieth century. And “Si dice donna” provided an excellent representation of this revolution.
