SUMMARY:Peccato di scrittura. A short story competition for women of all ages
DESCRIPTION:For the second consecutive year\, the Società per l’Enciclopedia delle donne APS is launching the annual short story competition “Peccato di scrittura”\, curated by Monica Randi. \nThis year’s theme is “Us and our bodies”. \nThe competition is reserved exclusively for women. This is a precise and conscious choice\, born from the conviction that writing has always represented a fundamental tool for freedom and the public recognition of women’s experiences. \nFor centuries\, in fact\, writing has conferred dignity upon every life: that of the philosopher and the poet\, but also that of women excluded from literary canons due to class\, social condition\, or gender. Letters\, diaries\, memoirs\, poems\, embroidered words\, wills\, flyers\, and published writings constitute a precious heritage today that does not only tell individual stories\, but illuminates collective contexts animated by a female presence\, which for too long was withheld from memory and official narrative. \nThe call for entries is available from July 1st on the website enciclopediadelledonne.it. \nThe deadline for submitting stories is November 10\, 2026. \nBecause writing is still an act of freedom\, a sin of presence that keeps its strength intact. And it tells who you are\, who we are. \nA project by enciclopediadelledonne.it in collaboration with\nArchivio del Lavoro\, Camera del Lavoro di Milano and Fondazione Elvira Badaracco\nunder the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Milan \nDownload the call for entries \nDownload the postcard \nDownload the registration form \nMore information

SUMMARY:1946: Women's Suffrage. The Story of a Long Journey
DESCRIPTION:In 1946\, Italian women voted for the first time. Eighty years after that historic turning point\, Milan hosts the city-wide event “1946: Women’s Suffrage. The Story of a Long Journey”\, which from October 1 to November 15 will involve 9 cultural venues in Milan in a journey that illustrates\, through images and installations\, the long road that led Italian women to achieve the right to vote. \nThe event\, promoted by Fondazione Anna Kuliscioff in collaboration with Unione Femminile Nazionale\, Museo del Risorgimento\, Archivio di Stato di Milano\, Fondazione Elvira Badaracco and Milanosifastoria\, aims not only to celebrate the 80th anniversary of women’s suffrage and the birth of the Italian Republic\, but also to provide an important opportunity to reflect on a particularly timely question: what value do we place on the right to vote today?\nThe initiative stems from the desire to reflect on the growing disengagement from electoral participation\, with particular attention to women and younger generations. \nA series of artistic installations located in various venues throughout the city\, composed of female silhouettes created by artist Chiara Corio and specially reconstructed ballot boxes\, create spaces for participation where the public will be invited to leave\, anonymously\, their reflections on the meaning of the right to vote and the reasons why it is sometimes not exercised today. \nOpening\nOctober 1\, 2026\, 5:30-7:30 PM\nat Unione Femminile Nazionale – Corso di Porta Nuova\, 32 – Milan \nView the program of events \n  \nFondazione Elvira Badaracco participates in the event by presenting on its website images of posters preserved in the archive dedicated to women’s voting during the two referendums on divorce and abortion in 1974 and 1981.

SUMMARY:Giving Voice to the Body: "Una visceralità indicibile" and the Legacy of 1970s Feminism
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, October 29\, 2026\, 5:00 PM\nFondazione Corrente\nVia Carlo Porta 5\, Milan \nPresentation of the reprint of Lea Melandri’s book Una visceralità indicibile. La pratica dell’inconscio nel movimento delle donne degli anni Settanta (FrancoAngeli\, 2026). \nA book to understand what self-awareness and the practice of the unconscious meant within the women’s movement of the 1970s — the most creative moments of a collective reflection rooted in personal experience and in questions of the body. The original way in which part of the feminist movement attempted at the time\, without disregarding the contribution of psychoanalysis\, to rediscover and transform the constraints of a sexuality rooted as much in the imaginary as in the historical constructions of masculine and feminine\, called for a more fitting reading — one capable of setting thought in motion once again through a practice of relationships. This led to the choice of a course of lectures\, “La pratica dell’inconscio nel movimento delle donne degli anni Settanta\,” held at the Associazione per una Libera Università delle donne di Milano in 1996–1997\, from which the idea for this long out-of-print book was born\, now available again in a new reprint. \nSpeakers: \n\nLea Melandri\, Fondazione Elvira Badaracco and Libera Università delle Donne\nChiara Martucci\, teacher and independent researcher\n\nIntroduced by: Deianira Amico\, Fondazione Corrente \nThe initiative is part of the project “Correnti del ’77. Arti e politiche da Brera alla città”. \nDownload the poster

SUMMARY:"Il raccoglitore nella segale". The Author of "Porci con le ali" Between Movements\, Feminism\, and Child Neuropsychiatry: The Story of Marco Lombardo Radice
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, October 29\, 2026\, 6:30 PM\nFondazione Corrente\nVia Carlo Porta 5\, Milan \nPresentation of the book by Matteo Fiorani Il raccoglitore nella segale. Marco Lombardo Radice\, storia di una fantasia (Donzelli\, 2026). \nFifty years after the publication of the bestseller Porci con le ali. Diario sessuo-politico di due adolescenti\, the controversial\, revolutionary\, scandalous novel read by more than two million people\, young and not so young\, we retrace the life of the man who wrote it in 1976 together with Lidia Ravera. \nThe book by Matteo Fiorani\, Il raccoglitore nella segale (Donzelli\, 2026) tells the story of Marco Lombardo Radice (1949-1989) following the thread of a fantasy he had as a teenager: an avid reader of The Catcher in the Rye\, in life he wanted to become\, like the protagonist of Salinger’s novel\, “the catcher in the rye\,” the one who saves childlike humanity from the edge of the precipice. A fantasy that\, in different forms\, ran through his entire life. \nFrom his upbringing in a prominent family of Italian culture and politics\, to his activism in the 1968 student movement and in Lotta Continua\, to his work as a child neuropsychiatrist in a ward for “impossible” cases in the 1980s\, Lombardo Radice’s biography becomes an opportunity to discuss the era of social movements\, their relationship with feminism\, and the interplay between individual motivations and collective dynamics. \nDiscussing this with the author: \n\nGiovanna Rosa\, Fondazione Elvira Badaracco\nGiorgio Bigatti\, Fondazione ISEC\n\nIntroduction by: Deianira Amico\, Fondazione Corrente \nDownload the poster
