SUMMARY:Peccato di scrittura. A short story competition for women of all ages
DESCRIPTION:For the second consecutive year\, the Società per l’Enciclopedia delle donne APS is launching the annual short story competition “Peccato di scrittura”\, curated by Monica Randi. \nThis year’s theme is “Us and our bodies”. \nThe competition is reserved exclusively for women. This is a precise and conscious choice\, born from the conviction that writing has always represented a fundamental tool for freedom and the public recognition of women’s experiences. \nFor centuries\, in fact\, writing has conferred dignity upon every life: that of the philosopher and the poet\, but also that of women excluded from literary canons due to class\, social condition\, or gender. Letters\, diaries\, memoirs\, poems\, embroidered words\, wills\, flyers\, and published writings constitute a precious heritage today that does not only tell individual stories\, but illuminates collective contexts animated by a female presence\, which for too long was withheld from memory and official narrative. \nThe call for entries is available from July 1st on the website enciclopediadelledonne.it. \nThe deadline for submitting stories is November 10\, 2026. \nBecause writing is still an act of freedom\, a sin of presence that keeps its strength intact. And it tells who you are\, who we are. \nA project by enciclopediadelledonne.it in collaboration with\nArchivio del Lavoro\, Camera del Lavoro di Milano and Fondazione Elvira Badaracco\nunder the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Milan \nDownload the call for entries \nDownload the postcard \nDownload the registration form \nMore information

SUMMARY:1946: Women's Suffrage. The Story of a Long Journey
DESCRIPTION:In 1946\, Italian women voted for the first time. Eighty years after that historic turning point\, Milan hosts the city-wide event “1946: Women’s Suffrage. The Story of a Long Journey”\, which from October 1 to November 15 will involve 9 cultural venues in Milan in a journey that illustrates\, through images and installations\, the long road that led Italian women to achieve the right to vote. \nThe event\, promoted by Fondazione Anna Kuliscioff in collaboration with Unione Femminile Nazionale\, Museo del Risorgimento\, Archivio di Stato di Milano\, Fondazione Elvira Badaracco and Milanosifastoria\, aims not only to celebrate the 80th anniversary of women’s suffrage and the birth of the Italian Republic\, but also to provide an important opportunity to reflect on a particularly timely question: what value do we place on the right to vote today?\nThe initiative stems from the desire to reflect on the growing disengagement from electoral participation\, with particular attention to women and younger generations. \nA series of artistic installations located in various venues throughout the city\, composed of female silhouettes created by artist Chiara Corio and specially reconstructed ballot boxes\, create spaces for participation where the public will be invited to leave\, anonymously\, their reflections on the meaning of the right to vote and the reasons why it is sometimes not exercised today. \nOpening\nOctober 1\, 2026\, 5:30-7:30 PM\nat Unione Femminile Nazionale – Corso di Porta Nuova\, 32 – Milan \nView the program of events \n  \nFondazione Elvira Badaracco participates in the event by presenting on its website images of posters preserved in the archive dedicated to women’s voting during the two referendums on divorce and abortion in 1974 and 1981.
