Peccato di scrittura. A short story competition for women of all ages
1 July 2026 - 10 November 2026
For the second consecutive year, the Società per l’Enciclopedia delle donne APS is launching the annual short story competition “Peccato di scrittura”, curated by Monica Randi.
This year’s theme is “Us and our bodies”.
The competition is reserved exclusively for women. This is a precise and conscious choice, born from the conviction that writing has always represented a fundamental tool for freedom and the public recognition of women’s experiences.
For centuries, in fact, writing has conferred dignity upon every life: that of the philosopher and the poet, but also that of women excluded from literary canons due to class, social condition, or gender. Letters, diaries, memoirs, poems, embroidered words, wills, flyers, and published writings constitute a precious heritage today that does not only tell individual stories, but illuminates collective contexts animated by a female presence, which for too long was withheld from memory and official narrative.
The call for entries is available from July 1st on the website enciclopediadelledonne.it.
The deadline for submitting stories is November 10, 2026.
Because writing is still an act of freedom, a sin of presence that keeps its strength intact. And it tells who you are, who we are.
