For the Aperitivi con la storia series, Tuesday, June 9 at 6:00 PM, at the ISEC Foundation in Sesto San Giovanni (MI), the following book will be presented:
The Ceva Family: An Anti-Fascist and Republican Family. The Lives of Bianca, Adele, Umberto, and Elena, by Fiorella Imprenti, Viella 2025.

On Christmas night 1930, in Regina Coeli prison, the young chemist from Giustizia e Libertà, Umberto Ceva, took his own life. Arrested in Milan with Ernesto Rossi and Riccardo Bauer, his death raised doubts and sparked an international campaign that accompanied the famous “trial of the intellectuals.”
In his final words, Ceva affirmed an ideal of freedom he had absorbed within his family. His parents, Lucio and Maria, his sisters Bianca and Adele, and his wife Elena Valla, already a collaborator of Gobetti, were all anti-fascists. Bianca Ceva was a partisan in the Partito d’Azione and, between the Resistance and the Republic, together with her sister and sister-in-law, a leading force in cultural and political struggles.
Through papers and diaries, the book weaves a family biography that unfolds across generations, recounting intense lives, in times of peace as well as war, within the transformations of culture and politics, education and associationism, among republican ideals, socialism, and democracy.
