The history of the Italian Communist Party has also been a history of women. For the first time, scholars engaged in the history of Italian communism from a gender perspective offer a comprehensive and unified look at the history of communist women, taking into account global, national, and local processes, as well as struggles for emancipation, liberation, and democracy, both in their collective dimension and through the roles of individual figures. Overall, the volume offers a collective reflection on the state of the art while simultaneously revising established interpretations through a plurality of voices, approaches, and viewpoints that provide a vivid and multifaceted image of that history.
