Alba de Céspedes wrote her extensive Diario from November 4, 1935, to March 11, 1992. Interrupted during the 1970s, it was resumed occasionally in 1978 and 1991. It is the account of an entire life filtered through imagination and consciousness, narrated through the interior reflections of experiences, following a path of self-knowledge and understanding of the world; but it is also the workshop of her own writing (it preserves metanarrative reflections, literary exercises, and the initial nuclei of works later published) and the reflection of a long dream. A daily narrative flow that traverses the twentieth century and offers the finest form of self-representation of an existence entrusted to writing.
