This volume aims to reflect the complexity of the twentieth-century literary landscape. Indeed, the variety of themes addressed by women’s writing is extensive, as presented didactically by this Bibliography. Accompanied by brief biographies of each author, with a look at online resources that preserve personal archives, the research presented offers a bibliographic repertoire of more than two hundred twentieth-century female authors.
Their presence in the publishing market is reconstructed starting from 1881, with works of prose and poetry placed by publishers in the diverse series presented here throughout the ‘short century.’ Consequently, this text brings numerous questions of positioning and methodological issues to the attention of critics—highlighted in the essays in the opening section—while many lines of research can unfold from the pages that compose the book.
