The history of feminism—from Olympe de Gouges to Carla Lonzi—has spanned decades and different nations and has touched both large and small realities, metropolises and towns. Salento experienced it firsthand, although few know this. “There were occasions when we literally turned the city upside down,” the protagonists recount. A project born within the Casa Delle Donne of Lecce, linked to the need to examine the role that the feminist movement played in a small reality in Southern Italy, but above all to the desire to understand how the struggles of those years influenced the lives of all women.
