Subject: a documentary about a family history. At its center is an extraordinary woman, Lisa Ghelfenbein, a Jewish woman born in Odessa in 1887, who came to Italy in the early twentieth century to have the opportunity to study medicine in Turin. Lisa remained in Italy, met the man who became her husband, married, and moved to Bergamo, where she raised a large family. During the period of the racial laws, Lisa was forced to leave her husband and children to hide in a convent, far from everything and everyone. She survived, but the suffering and isolation marked the beginning of a serious illness. Lisa died after losing her entire family of origin and never returning to Odessa.
