Subject: La vita trema, Paola Sangiovanni’s first feature-length film, is a documentary that recounts the feminist movement in 1970s Italy through the stories of four young women.
Alessandra, Maria Paola, Marina, and Liliana share their personal histories, the struggle they undertook to change and determine their own destinies, escaping imposed tradition and adopting new attitudes to overturn the position of men over women in society, which had been considered immutable until that time.
The film was awarded Best Film at Sulmonacinema 2009 with the Silver Ovid, and the four protagonists Alessandra Vanzi, Maria Paola Fiorensoli, Marina Pivetta, and Liliana Ingargiola received the Silver Ovid for Best Performance.
