Subject: the video narrates the complex history of movement and thought that represented, in Italy as well, the women’s liberation movement. A long history that remains open in many respects (social, legal, economic), beginning in Italy in 1945 and continuing through two major waves. The first, from 1945 to 1968, can be summarized in the expression “woman equal to man,” and sees women committed to demanding equal rights (among others, the right to vote, equal pay, access to professions). The second wave, from 1968 to the present, is the more properly feminist phase. In this period, women focus on feminine difference and identity. The period is marked by the achievement of important laws, but is above all characterized by battles that profoundly transformed Italian society. The history of the Italian feminist movement is told through RAI video archives, cinema, music, as well as news events. Finally, numerous interviews with historians (male and female), physicians, philosophers, journalists, sociologists, gynecologists, legal scholars, together with witnesses and women protagonists of this long history.
